Sohail Tanvir: “Shaheen can swing the ball but length is very important. He used to just attack, and if the ball swung, he got wickets, and if it didn’t, he conceded 20-22 in his first two. But lately, he works on his length more”

Veteran Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir has advised pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi to not only rely on swing to get wickets.
He noted that the 24-year-old needs to keep hitting the right length as it will bring him a lot of success.
Tanvir acknowledged that Afridi has focused on maintaining the right line and length lately, but pointed out that he needs to be consistent with it on pitches where the ball doesn’t swing much.
“Shaheen can swing the ball but length is very important. He used to just attack, and if the ball swung, he got wickets, and if it didn’t, he conceded 20-22 in his first two. But lately, he works on his length more. He goes after wickets, but also pulls back when he realises he’ll have to contain too,” he told ESPNcricinfo as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Afridi recently represented Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and took five wickets in four matches at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 6.56.
The men in green lost their first two games against the United States of America and India before picking up wins against Canada and Ireland.
Despite this, they were eliminated in the group stage of the competition.
