Mir Hamza: “I want to play white-ball cricket as much as I can”

Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Mir Hamza has expressed his desire to play as much white-ball cricket as possible in the future.
Hamza has only represented Pakistan in Test cricket to date, taking nine wickets in five matches at an average of 45.44.
However, the 31-year-old doesn’t want to be a red-ball specialist and noted that he has shown he can excel in limited overs cricket.
In the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Hamza played for the Karachi Kings and picked up 10 wickets in seven games at an average of 22.30 and an economy rate of 8.86.
While he knows it will be tough to break into Pakistan’s white-ball squads, the Karachi native isn’t closing the door on his dreams of representing his country in ODIs or T20Is anytime soon.
“I want to play white-ball cricket as much as I can,” he told PakPassion.
The Pakistan team recently played a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which ended as a 2-2 draw.
Afterwards, they beat Ireland 2-1 in a three-match T20I series before losing 2-0 to England in a four-match T20I series.
They then featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup and lost their first two games against the United States of America and India before beating Canada and Ireland.
Despite finishing with a 2-2 record, the men in green were eliminated in the group stage of the competition.
Since Hamza isn’t being considered for selection in white-ball cricket right now, he is representing Glamorgan in Division Two of the County Championship in England and has taken 12 wickets in six matches at an average of 35.50.
