Rashid Latif: “The team has two wicketkeepers, [Azam] Khan and Rizwan. I suggest that wicketkeeping should be done by a senior player. Rizwan was running the game from behind for the last four years [but] now you have removed that guard”

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif believes Mohammad Rizwan should be wicketkeeping all the time for the men in green.
His comments come after the men in green have utilised Azam Khan as a wicketkeeper-batsman in T20Is.
However, considering how experienced Rizwan is and the fact that he has scored runs a lot more consistently than Azam, Latif wants him standing behind the stumps instead of the 25-year-old power-hitter.
“The team has two wicketkeepers, [Azam] Khan and Rizwan. I suggest that wicketkeeping should be done by a senior player. Rizwan was running the game from behind for the last four years [but] now you have removed that guard,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Rizwan amassed 110 runs in four matches, which included a top score of 53 not out, at an average of 36.66 and a strike-rate of 90.90.
As for Azam, he only featured in the opening game against the United States of America and was dismissed for a golden duck.
Pakistan lost their first two matches against the United States of America and India before beating Canada and Ireland.
However, they ended up being eliminated in the group stage as India and the United States of America progressed to the Super Eights.
