Former India seamer Shanthakumaran Sreesanth said he wanted pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah to “finish” Pakistan captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan when they clashed in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The two sides met in New York and June 9 and Bumrah did get the job done as he removed both Azam and Rizwan.
The 30-year-old ended up recording figures of 3-14 off his four overs and was named Man of the Match as India won by six runs while defending a target of 120.
“I think if you are watching Bumrah, please finish Rizwan and Babar first,” Sreesanth said on Star Sports prior to the match as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam scored 122 runs in four T20 World Cup matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
As for Rizwan, he amassed 110 runs in four games, which included a top score of 53 not out, at an average of 36.66 and a strike-rate of 90.90.
Pakistan lost their first two matches against the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.
Despite ending the group stage on a high, the men in green failed to make it through to the Super Eights.
