Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah said it is impossible for him to completely ignore what people say on social media.

While it can be detrimental to the mental wellbeing of cricketers when they are constantly criticised and put under pressure, Naseem noted that he is happy to accept it when someone praises him and chooses to overlook comments that lambast him.

“You cannot ignore what people say on social media completely, that’s the truth but if someone talks good, take it and if someone talks [bad], then we ignore it,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

The 21-year-old has been in solid form lately as he took two wickets in three T20Is against New Zealand at an average of 35.50 and an economy rate of 10.14.

He followed that up with two wickets in two T20Is against Ireland at an average of 36.50 and an economy rate of 9.12.

Naseem then featured in Pakistan’s four-match T20I series against England and went wicketless in the one match he played.

Currently, he is involved in the 2024 T20 World Cup and has picked up five wickets in three games at an average of 14.20 and an economy rate of 5.91.

Pakistan lost their first two matches against the United States of America and India before bouncing back to crush Canada by seven wickets.

Next up for the men in green will be a clash against Ireland on June 16 in Lauderhill.
