Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has admitted that he doesn’t see any space in the team for big-hitting batsman Mohammad Haris.
The 23-year-old from Peshawar was once a go-to power-hitter in the national team, but squandered his chance of cementing his spot in the side by failing to perform regularly.
Salman noted that Pakistan now have a plethora of options when it comes to batsmen who can hit big and score fast, which has resulted in Haris being left on the sidelines.
“Shadab Khan is also a solid hitter and Imad Wasim is the same. Usman Khan also performed in PSL so where would you place Mohammad Haris?” he said on YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Haris wasn’t picked for Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which ended as a 2-2 draw.
After that, the men in green beat Ireland 2-1 in a three-match T20I series.
Pakistan then took on England in a four-match T20I series and lost 2-0.
They will now be involved in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which began on June 1 and will be played in the West Indies and United States of America.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
