Former Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez believes spin-bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan is a “very good package for T20 cricket” and should be batting at number five or six.
He noted that Shadab can contribute with both the bat and ball, and is an “absolutely fantastic” fielder as well.
“He’s a very good package for T20 cricket. As a batsman, he should bat at number 5 or number 6 and play the best role for Pakistan cricket. As a fielder, he’s absolutely fantastic,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
In Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand, Shadab took three wickets at an average of 18 and an economy rate of 6.75.
He was then involved in the three-match T20I series against Ireland and went wicketless in the one game he played.
Following this, he featured in the four-match T20I series against England and failed to take a wicket, while also conceding 75 runs off his seven overs.
Pakistan will now be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which is taking place in the West Indies and United States of America.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
