Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan said if cricketers only focus on their averages, they are nothing more than average players.
He noted that what makes some batsmen elite is their ability to “look at the conditions and what the game demands”.
Rizwan pointed out that putting the team’s needs above personal achievements is the greatest way to grow as a cricketer and elevate your game to the next level.
“If you look at the average, you are an average player. If you look at the conditions and what the game demands that will make you better,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Rizwan recently featured in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand and scored 67 runs in three games.
He then played three T20Is against Ireland and amassed 132 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 66 and a strike-rate of 150.
Currently, the Pakistan team are playing a four-match T20I series against England and trail 1-0.
Afterwards, they will be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
