Legendary Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has questioned why fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jnr was dropped from the team in such a sudden manner.
Wasim Jnr had been making the most of the opportunities being given to him, but has not represented the men in green since their T20I series against New Zealand in January 2024.
Afridi admitted it would be interesting to know why the 22-year-old was axed from the squad without any warning.
“It’s surprising how after keeping Wasim Jnr in the team, he was dropped,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
The Pakistan team played a five-match T20I series against New Zealand in April 2024, which ended as a 2-2 draw.
Following this, they went on to beat Ireland 2-1 in a three-match T20I series.
The men in green are now taking on England in a four-match T20I series and are 1-0 down.
Following this, they will take part in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be played in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
