Former Pakistan speedster Sarfraz Nawaz has lashed out at spinner Shadab Khan for not being able to create any impact whatsoever.

Shadab’s form had been a concern for quite some time, but he silenced his critics after captaining Islamabad United to the title in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In PSL 9, the 25-year-old took 14 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 26.85 and an economy rate of 8.54.

He also scored 305 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 30.50 and a strike-rate of 142.52.

Following this, he claimed three wickets in five T20Is against New Zealand at an average of 18 and an economy rate of 6.75.

He then went wicketless in the one T20I he played against Ireland.

Despite the Mianwali native regaining his form over the past couple of months, Nawaz isn’t convinced that he can create “any impression with the ball”.

“I don’t think Shadab Khan is capable of creating any impression with the ball,” he was quoted as saying by The News, according to Geo Super.

Pakistan are now playing a four-match T20I series against England and in the second match, Shadab went wicketless and conceded 55 runs off his four overs.

After the England series, the men in green will be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.

Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
