Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam has made it clear that he doesn’t think power-hitter Mohammad Haris is a bad player.
He conceded that Haris is going through “a rough patch” right now, but is optimistic that the 23-year-old will be back to his best in the near future.
The Peshawar native was once a regular face in the Pakistan team, but ended up getting dropped due to inconsistent performances. As a result of this, he has not represented his country since September 2023.
“I am not saying he is a bad player. Everyone goes through a rough patch,” Azam was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently captained Pakistan in their five-match T20I series against New Zealand and finished with 125 runs, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.
Next up was three T20Is against Ireland and Azam accumulated 132 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 44 and a strike-rate of 148.31.
Pakistan are now playing a four-match T20I series against England, which is tied at 0-0 after the first game was washed out.
Following this, the men in green will be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
