Pakistan rising star Jahandad Khan revealed that Lahore Qalandars head coach Aaqib Javed told him that “power-hitting is my natural game”.
He noted that Aaqib encouraged him to unleash his firepower with confidence, which proved to be beneficial in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Playing for the Qalandars, Jahandad amassed 88 runs in nine matches at an average of 22 and a strike-rate of 187.23.
He also took five wickets at an average of 45.20 and an economy rate of 9.82.
“It was very fruitful for me to play under the coaching of Aaqib Javed. He suggested me to focus on natural gameplay. He said that power-hitting is my natural game hence I should confidently do power-hitting which turned out to be beneficial for me as well as Lahore Qalandars,” the 20-year-old from Rawalpindi told Geo News.
Jahandad was not picked for Pakistan’s recent five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which concluded as a 2-2 draw.
The men in green then proceeded to beat Ireland 2-1 in a three-match T20I series.
Next up for Pakistan will be four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
After that, they will be involved in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be held in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
