Pakistan opening batsman Saim Ayub has made it clear that he has no plans to change his playing style, even though he has failed to start his international career with a bang.
In 20 T20Is, the 21-year-old has amassed 284 runs at an average of 15.77 and a strike-rate of 130.87.
Till now, Ayub has failed to make a half-century, but he vowed to keep working hard and expressed his confidence in turning his fortunes around in the future.
“I have not yet played a big innings at international level but I am trying to do better. It is a process. The management is [backing] every player. I will not change my style and I am confident I will perform in future,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Ayub scored 57 runs in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand at an average of 14.25 and a strike-rate of 129.54.
He fared a little better in the three-match T20I series against Ireland, making 65 runs at an average of 21.66 and a strike-rate of 151.16.
Next up for Pakistan will be four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
After that, they will be in action in the T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
