Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman has outlined plans to work on his strike-rate as he knows it will benefit the team if he scores runs faster.

Zaman currently has a career strike-rate of 132.40 in T20Is, but acknowledged the need to boost it up to meet the current demands of international cricket.

The 34-year-old is assigned to the number four spot right now and hopes to bring even more stability to the middle order, which has been a thorn in the side of the Pakistan team for a prolonged period of time.

“My goal is to score runs quickly. My strike-rate can improve further and I’m working on that. It’s true that our middle order performance hasn’t been strong, and the team is trying to adjust its mindset to align with modern cricket,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

In Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand, Zaman amassed 104 runs, which included a top score of 61, at an average of 52 and a strike-rate of 133.33.

He then proceeded to make 98 runs in three T20Is against Ireland, which included a top score of 78, at an average of 49 and a strike-rate of 168.96.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a four-match T20I series against England from May 22 to May 30.

Following this, they will be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be held in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.

Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
