Pakistan big-hitter Fakhar Zaman has revealed that former captain and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq advised him to bat lower down the order as he can still “benefit the team.”
Zaman is accustomed to opening the batting, but lately, he has found himself coming in at number four in T20Is.
Despite this, the 34-year-old has adapted to his new batting position really well and has been in good form in Pakistan’s last couple of series.
“Misbah-Ul-Haq told me that you can benefit the team by playing lower down the order,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand, Zaman amassed 104 runs in two games, which included a top score of 61, at an average of 52 and a strike-rate of 133.33.
He then went on to score 98 runs in three T20Is against Ireland, which included a top score of 78, at an average of 49 and a strike-rate of 168.96.
Pakistan’s next assignment will see them play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
After that, they will participate in the T20 World Cup, which will be held in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
