Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam believes wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan is a “different type of player” as he can “completely change the game”.
Babar’s praise comes at a time when questions continue to be raised about whether the 25-year-old deserves to be in the T20I team.
The 29-year-old even acknowledged that the men in green missed Azam during their five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which he missed due to a grade one tear in his right calf muscle.
The big-hitting batsman returned for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Ireland and made 48 runs in three games at an average of 48 and a strike-rate of 266.66.
“We missed Azam a little because he is a different type of player. He is a game-changer. You know that when he is standing, he can completely change the game,” Babar was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan’s next assignment will see them play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
