Asif Ali: “Babar Azam is a frontline leader, which is why he is the king”

Pakistan power-hitter Asif Ali has hailed limited overs captain Babar Azam as “the king” since he constantly leads from the front.
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats over the past few years and has broken numerous records along the way.
Even though he has gone through a few rough patches in that time, the 29-year-old has always managed to rebound and get back to his best.
This, in Asif’s eyes, is what makes Azam one of the top players in the world.
“Babar Azam is a frontline leader, which is why he is the king,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam recently featured in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand and made 125 runs in five games, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.
He is now captaining the men in green in their three-match T20I series against Ireland and scored 57 and 0 in the first two games.
Following the series against Ireland, Pakistan will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
