Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh said he knows Pakistan limited overs captain Babar Azam “is a quality player”, which is why he wants him to “start scoring runs” again.

Azam has gone through a rough patch for the past few months, during which he has failed to score runs consistently.

On top of that, he has also failed to convert many promising starts into big scores, which has hurt the men in green as they rely on him to be one of their frontline batsmen.

Considering Pakistan’s string of poor results as of late, Harbhajan admitted that it is imperative Azam rediscovers his form as soon as possible.

“No doubt Babar is a quality player, and I hope he starts scoring runs,” he told Cricket Pakistan.

Azam was recently in action during Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand and amassed 125 runs in five games, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.

He is now in action in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Ireland and made 57 in the first game, which the men in green lost by five wickets.

Following the Ireland series, Pakistan will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
