Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif believes England batsman Harry Brook could be the next Babar Azam or Virat Kohli.
Brook has dominated at the international level since making his debut in 2022.
So far, the 25-year-old averages 62.15 in Test cricket, 29.07 in ODIs and 27.20 in T20Is.
Given how much promise he has shown, Latif feels that Brook could soon be right up there with Azam, who captains Pakistan, and Kohli, who is India’s star batsman.
“If you look at Brook’s performance, then in the last couple of innings, he was just outstanding. He doesn’t stop. He also became one of the most expensive overseas players in IPL auctions. Brook is now one of the best players in the world at the moment, among the current crop of players. He could be the next Babar Azam or Virat Kohli,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Azam recently captained Pakistan in their five-match T20I series against New Zealand and accumulated 125 runs in five games, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match T20I series against Ireland from May 10 to 14.
Following that, they will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
