Shahid Afridi, the iconic hard-hitter, said limited overs captain Babar Azam is the “pride of the Pakistan cricket team”.
Azam has long been the team’s go-to run-scorer and has played a number of memorable knocks in all three formats over the last few years.
This has led him to break many records and earned him numerous accolades as well.
Afridi acknowledged that he is very proud to see how far the 29-year-old has come in such a short period of time.
“He is the pride of the Pakistan cricket team,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently captained Pakistan in their five-match T20I series against New Zealand and made 125 runs in five games, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.
Next up for Pakistan will be a three-match T20I series against Ireland from May 10 to 14.
After that, they will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
