Quetta Gladiators head coach Shane Watson sees young batsman Khawaja Nafay as a “promising prospect for Pakistan cricket” due to the power and skill he possesses.
Watson got to see the talent Nafay has firsthand during the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as the 22-year-old played for the Gladiators.
The rising star featured in 10 matches and accumulated 182 runs, which included a top score of 60 not out, at an average of 22.75 and a strike-rate of 121.33.
Having shown how good he can be, Watson feels Nafay could go on to have a highly successful international career.
“His skill and power make him a promising prospect for Pakistan cricket,” the former Australia all-rounder told Geo News.
The Gladiators made it to the playoffs in PSL 9 before having their campaign ended by eventual champions Islamabad United in Eliminator 1, where they lost by 39 runs.
Following the PSL, the Pakistan team played a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which ended as a 2-2 draw.
The men in green’s next assignment will be a three-match T20I series against Ireland from May 10 to 14.
Following that, they will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
