Babar Azam, the Pakistan limited overs captain, acknowledged that express bowler Haris Rauf plays a key role for the team as he is able to take wickets at “very crucial points”.
Rauf is among the fastest bowlers in all of Pakistan as he occasionally surpasses 150 kph when bowling.
Considering his wicket-taking ability, along with his raw pace and swing, he has become a regular face in the limited overs squads.
“Haris, he has given us breakthroughs at very crucial points,” Azam told Cricwick.
Azam recently captained Pakistan in their five-match T20I series against New Zealand and accumulated 125 runs in five games, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.
Rauf was not considered for selection as he was recovering from the dislocated shoulder he suffered while playing for the Lahore Qalandars in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
However, he has been included in Pakistan’s squad for their three-match T20I series against Ireland from May 10 to 14 and four-match T20I series against England from May 22 to May 30.
