Pakistan seamer Mohammad Wasim Jnr said bowling fast is not enough for success and stressed the importance of utilising different variations as well.
Wasim Jnr, who bowls around 140 kph, noted that having various types of deliveries in his arsenal allows him to get the upper hand over opposition batsmen at times as they won’t know what to expect.
“In addition to being fast, having variations in skills is crucial. I don’t consider myself specifically a specialist in Pakistan’s conditions. Skills, along with maintaining a good pace, are necessary for bowling success,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Wasim Jnr recently represented the Quetta Gladiators in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and had a solid campaign, taking nine wickets in eight matches at an average of 33 and an economy rate of 9.90.
The Gladiators managed to qualify for the playoffs, but saw their season come to an end when they lost to eventual champions Islamabad United in Eliminator 1.
Pakistan are now involved in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand and find themselves 1-0 up after winning the second T20I by seven wickets.
