Pakistan top order batsman Ahmed Shehzad is willing to bat in the top or middle order if it means being recalled to the national team.

The 32-year-old has been a force to be reckoned with in domestic cricket and is determined to win back his place in the Pakistan team, but noted that “it is important to sit down and talk about the plan.”

In the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (QeA Trophy), Shehzad scored 482 runs in six matches for Lahore Region Whites, which included two centuries and a fifty, at an average of 96.40.

He had a lacklustre campaign in the Pakistan Cup, mustering 53 runs in four games at an average of 13.25.

However, Shehzad was back in the runs in the National T20 Cup, accumulating 344 runs in nine matches, which included four fifties, at an average of 43 and a strike-rate of 133.33.

His most recent domestic appearance in Pakistan came during the President’s Trophy Grade-I, where he made 273 runs in three games for the Water And Power Development Authority, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 45.50.

“I have batted up the order and will prefer to [do] that. As far as batting in middle order is concerned, I am willing to do anything for Pakistan but it is important to sit down and talk about the plan,” Shehzad was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

After being overlooked by all teams for the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Shehzad suffered yet another setback as he wasn’t picked for Pakistan’s upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand from April 18 to 27.
