Mike Hesson: “Just highly skilled, amazing wrist position, so if there’s anything on offer, he will generate swing”

Islamabad United head coach Mike Hesson believes Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah is such a talented individual as if “there’s anything on offer” on any pitch, “he will generate swing.”
Naseem has arguably been Pakistan’s most lethal seamer as of late, having regularly taken wickets and troubled batsmen with his sublime swing.
The 21-year-old returned from a shoulder injury during the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he played for Islamabad and took 15 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 22.20 and an economy rate of 7.56.
“I mean Naseem’s obviously more of the finished product, although he was coming back from injury. Just highly skilled, amazing wrist position, so if there’s anything on offer, he will generate swing. But, he’s also developing his craft as well and working out how to adapt his style to different surfaces. So, that’s exciting in terms of the fact that he can get even better,” Hesson, who guided Islamabad to the title in PSL 9, told PakPassion.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from April 18 to 27.
