Former Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali conceded Test captain Shan Masood struggled a bit while leading the Karachi Kings in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Masood was anticipated to be among the Kings’ top scorers in PSL 9, but he had a much quieter campaign than expected.
The 34-year-old was restricted to 158 runs in 10 matches at an average of 15.80 and a strike-rate of 105.33.
Having seen Masood’s performances, Azhar pointed out that the veteran batsman’s rhythm looked off, which is likely the reason why he had a hard time making runs.
“Shan isn’t playing in flow like previous seasons, he’s struggling a bit,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
The Kings failed to make it to the PSL playoffs as they finished in fifth place on the points table after winning four out of the 10 games they played.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which will take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore from April 18 to 27.
