Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has announced that the men in green still have three open spots in their squad ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup in June.
Revealing which spots are yet to be filled, he noted that the “selection committee are still pondering over players for the fourth, fifth and sixth batting spots.”
With those three spots comprising the middle order, the men in green will be on the lookout for batsmen who can have a major impact and score at a quick pace.
Even though some question marks remain about the team in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup, Rizwan noted that the side “is looking very strong.”
“In our minds, our team is very strong. Still, I can say that the captain and selection committee are still pondering over players for the fourth, fifth and sixth batting spots. I think there is still a shadow over the fifth batting spot, regarding who will fill that position. But I think our Pakistan team is looking very strong,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Rizwan recently captained the Multan Sultans in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and finished as the third-highest run-scorer with 407 runs in 12 games, which included four fifties, at an average of 33.91 and a strike-rate of 122.22.
The Sultans made it to their fourth successive PSL final, but ended up losing to Islamabad United by two wickets.
