Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq said the googly has gone missing from spinner Shadab Khan’s arsenal.

He noted that Shadab used to utilise the googly very effectively when he first started playing for Pakistan, but as time has gone on, the 25-year-old has used it less and less.

Even though the Mianwali native has plenty of different variations he uses when bowling, Misbah urged Shadab to bring back the googly and start using it to get more wickets.

“Shadab was very effective with his googlies when he started playing for Pakistan but he has lost bowling googlies now,” Misbah was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Shadab recently captained Islamabad United in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and played a pivotal role in their road to the title.

He took 14 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 26.85 and an economy rate of 8.54.

As for his batting, he made 305 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 30.50 and a strike-rate of 142.52.

Islamabad United Squad for PSL 9: Shadab Khan (captain), Naseem Shah, Jordan Cox, Imad Wasim, Azam Khan, Tymal Mills, Faheem Ashraf, Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Rumman Raees, Matthew Forde, Salman Ali Agha, Qasim Akram, Shahab Khan, Hunain Shah, Ubaid Shah, Shamyl Hussain, Obed McCoy, Haider Ali, Muhammad Waseem
