Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has labelled big-hitter Iftikhar Ahmed “the best finisher in the world.”
Iftikhar is a regular face in Pakistan’s T20I squad and has the role of scoring quick runs towards the end of the innings, which he does very effectively.
Recently, the 33-year-old played under Rizwan’s captaincy for the Multan Sultans in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and showcased his awesome power time and time again.
In 12 matches, he accumulated 259 runs, which included a top score of 60 not out, at an average of 64.75 and a strike-rate of 193.28.
Having seen the carnage Iftikhar can inflict with his own eyes, Rizwan feels there isn’t another finisher who is quite as dominant as the Peshawar-born batsman.
“Iftikhar Ahmed is the best finisher in the world,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Rizwan had a strong showing in PSL 9 as well, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer with 407 runs in 12 games, which included four fifties, at an average of 33.91 and a strike-rate of 122.22.
