Former Pakistan team director and interim head coach Mohammad Hafeez has called for fast bowler Haris Rauf to be “rested for a few matches” as he is not the same wicket-taker compared to the past.

Hafeez admitted that the 30-year-old is “out of form” and feels it will be beneficial for him and the men in green if he sits on the sidelines for a short while.

Rauf is arguably the fastest bowler in Pakistan as he can reach speeds close to 155 kph when bowling. However, he has come under fire lately for not being able to take wickets consistently and for conceding too many runs as well.

“Haris Rauf needs to be rested for a few matches. He is not the same Haris we know. He is out of form and it’s in his best interest and the team’s too that he sits out,” Hafeez was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Rauf was recently in action for the Lahore Qalandars in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and took two wickets in four matches at an average of 66 and an economy rate of 9.42.

His PSL 9 campaign came to a premature end after he suffered a dislocated shoulder.
