Pakistan spinner Imad Wasim believes veteran batsman Shoaib Malik is “the best player of spin bowling in the entire world.”
The 35-year-old recently battled against Malik in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as they played for Islamabad United and the Karachi Kings respectively.
Imad admitted that it was a “big honour” to get Malik out in PSL 9 as he knows the 42-year-old has long been a brilliant batsman who can dominate opposition bowlers.
“Shoaib Malik is the best player of spin bowling in the entire world. To get his wicket was a big honour and it felt great,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Imad got off to a slow start in PSL 9, but started to pick things up towards the latter part of the tournament and ended up finishing with 12 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 20.91 and an economy rate of 6.60.
As for Malik, he scored 254 runs in 10 games for the Kings, which included a top score of 53, at an average of 31.75 and a strike-rate of 115.98.
