Pakistan top order batsman Umar Amin believes it is wrong of people to classify him as a red-ball specialist as he feels he can excel in all three formats.
Amin last played international cricket in January 2018, but has been a strong performer in domestic cricket for the past few seasons.
Most recently, he featured for the State Bank of Pakistan in the President’s Trophy Grade-I and finished as the fourth-highest run-scorer with 547 runs in six matches, which included two centuries and two fifties, at an average of 54.70.
While he has enjoyed a lot of success in first-class cricket, the 34-year-old from Rawalpindi reiterated that he has done well in other formats too as he averages 39.94 in List A cricket and 28.83 in T20s.
“I don’t agree with the tag of only [being a] red-ball player,” he told journalist Arfa Feroz Zake in a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
It should be noted that Amin didn’t feature in the recently-concluded 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was won by Islamabad United.
