Misbah-ul-Haq: “Babar does face issues in picking up googlies of wrist-spinners in the past”

Former Pakistan head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq confirmed star batsman Babar Azam has struggled against googlies bowled by wrist-spinners in the past.
While the 29-year-old has worked to rectify the issue, his problems against spin bowling in particular have been highlighted on numerous occasions.
“Babar does face issues in picking up googlies of wrist-spinners in the past,” Misbah was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam recently captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and excelled against both fast bowling and spin as he went on to finish as the highest run-scorer in the tournament.
In the 11 matches he played, he scored 569 runs, which included a century and five fifties, at an average of 56.90 and a strike-rate of 142.60.
