Renowned fast bowling coach Ian Pont said there is no doubt that the Pakistan pace duo of Ubaid Shah and Mohammad Zeeshan “have a future in the game.”

Both players have been in very good form for the Pakistan Under-19 team and are two of the most talked about rising stars.

Ubaid, 18, is the younger brother of first-choice pace bowler Naseem Shah, while 17-year-old Zeeshan has become a viral sensation due to the fact he stands at 6 ft 8 in.

Given the talent they have, Pont believes it will be beneficial for them to keep playing at the highest level possible so that they can improve and be ready for international cricket when the time comes.

“I think if you’re good enough, you’re old enough and you should always be exposed to the highest level possible available to you. Ubaid Shah is a [seriously] talented cricketer, Mohammad Zeeshan as well. They’re both guys that I think have a future in the game,” he told PakPassion.

Ubaid recently represented Islamabad United in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and went wicketless in the two games he played.

As for Zeeshan, he took one wicket in three matches for the Peshawar Zalmi at an average of 112 and an economy rate of 10.18.
