Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza saw a marked improvement in Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi’s leadership skills when he captained the Lahore Qalandars in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Raza, who played for the Qalandars, noted that Afridi made strides in the right direction, even though the franchise only won one out of the 10 games they played.
Coming into PSL 9, the Qalandars were back-to-back champions as they triumphed in 2022 and 2023.
“I feel that Shaheen’s captaincy is better this year,” Raza was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
In this year’s PSL, Afridi, who is Pakistan’s T20I captain, took 14 wickets in nine games at an average of 22.14 and an economy rate of 8.61.
As for Raza, he made 91 runs in eight matches at an average of 15.16 and a strike-rate of 133.82.
He also took three wickets at an average of 50.33 and an economy rate of 8.38.
