Pakistan T20I captain Shaheen Shah Afridi believes big-hitting batsmen Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah are the “best finishers” in the country and wants them to play starring roles for the national team.
Both batsmen have plenty of talent and firepower and with the 2024 T20 World Cup coming up in June, Afridi is eager to see them at their best.
Iftikhar and Khushdil recently played for the Multan Sultans in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), with the former amassing 259 runs in 12 matches, which included a top score of 60 not out, at an average of 64.75 and a strike-rate of 193.28.
As for Khushdil, he finished with 68 runs in 10 games at an average of 17 and a strike-rate of 128.30.
“Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah are the best finishers in Pakistan and we need them firing for our country too. It’s great to see them performing in [the] PSL,” Afridi was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
Afridi captained the Lahore Qalandars in PSL 9 and took 14 wickets in nine matches at an average of 22.14 and an economy rate of 8.61.
