Former Pakistan team director and interim head coach Mohammad Hafeez feels all-rounder Faheem Ashraf’s impact has continuously fallen in the past few seasons of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Faheem was once Pakistan’s first-choice all-rounder and the national team’s go-to finisher as he could score quick runs and provide breakthroughs at pivotal moments in a match.
The 30-year-old from Kasur is playing for Islamabad United in the 2024 PSL, but once again, he has not been able to live up to Hafeez’s expectations.
Faheem has taken six wickets in 11 matches at an average of 40.50 and an economy rate of 9.72.
He has also scored 99 runs at an average of 19.80 and a strike-rate of 135.61.
“Faheem’s impact seems to have decreased over the past few PSL seasons,” Hafeez was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Islamabad booked their spot in the PSL playoffs and took down the Quetta Gladiators by 39 runs in Eliminator 1 on March 15.
They then registered an incredible come-from-behind five-wicket win over the Peshawar Zalmi in Eliminator 2 on March 16 and will now face the Multan Sultans in the final on March 18.
