Pakistan chief selector Wahab Riaz said Mir Hamza is a “very good left-arm bowler” who can make things happen with the new ball.

He noted that this was why the 31-year-old was selected in the Pakistan team for the three-match Test series against Australia.

Hamza did well in the series, taking seven wickets in two matches at an average of 20.71.

“Mir Hamza is a very good left-arm bowler who does well with the new ball,” Wahab was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Prior to the Australia series, Hamza performed well in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which is Pakistan’s first-class competition.

The Karachi native finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 32 wickets in eight matches for Karachi Region Whites at an average of 20.87.

He recently played for the Karachi Kings in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and finished with 10 wickets in seven matches at an average of 22.30 and an economy rate of 8.86.
