Pakistan big-hitter Asif Ali has “not lost hope” when it comes to making a comeback in international cricket.
The 32-year-old was part of the Pakistan team that featured in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, but prior to that, his last match for the men in green was in October 2022.
Asif was once Pakistan’s go-to power-hitter, but lost his spot in the side due to inconsistent performances.
Having been regularly overlooked by the selectors, the Faisalabad native is determined to get back on their radar by performing well for the Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
“I have not lost hope, if I am lucky, I will make a comeback. The first step is to perform well in [the] PSL,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
So far, Asif has amassed 61 runs in five matches at an average of 20.33 and a strike-rate of 148.78.
