Pakistan T20I captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said pace bowler Abbas Afridi is capable of bringing more stability to the bowling unit.
His praise for the 22-year-old comes after Abbas showed plenty of potential in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, during which he made his international debut.
Abbas featured in three matches and took five wickets at an average of 16.20 and an economy rate of nine.
“He can bring more stability in the bowling unit,” Shaheen was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Even though Abbas did well in the series against the Black Caps, Pakistan still ended up losing the series 4-1.
Abbas is now representing the Multan Sultans in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has picked up seven wickets in five games at an average of 23.42 and an economy rate of 8.63.
As for Shaheen, he is captaining the Lahore Qalandars and has claimed nine wickets in six matches at an average of 22.22 and an economy rate of 8.33.
