Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary has crowned Babar Azam as “Pakistan’s top batter of this era.”
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats and has repeatedly won them games.
The 29-year-old is constantly hailed as one of the top batsmen in the world today, but Tiwary firmly believes that the Lahore native is in a league of his own when it comes to all the batting talents Pakistan have produced lately.
“He is undoubtedly Pakistan’s top batter of this era,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently scored 126 runs at an average of 21 in Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia.
He fared a lot better in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand as he amassed 213 runs, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 42.60 and a strike-rate of 142.
Azam is now captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has accumulated 330 runs in five matches, which includes a century and two fifties, at an average of 82.50 and a strike-rate of 151.37.
