Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan has revealed that fast bowler Naseem Shah was hesitant about picking his brothers, Hunain and Ubaid, in the Islamabad United squad for the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Despite Naseem’s reservations, Islamabad United proceeded to sign both his brothers, which made headlines as all three of them are talented speedsters.

Shadab, who captains the PSL franchise, noted that bringing Hunain and Ubaid on board strengthened the team’s line-up and provided more options when it came to the bowling attack.

“Naseem was under a lot of tension, and he was even refusing to take his brothers, but obviously, we had to look at our team and pick the best options, especially in the emerging category, which is the most important. Because if your emerging players are good, your team’s combination becomes very strong,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

In PSL 9, Naseem has taken seven wickets in five matches at an average of 22.57 and an economy rate of 7.90.

As for Hunain, he has claimed two wickets in three games at an average of 39.50 and an economy rate of 9.87, while Ubaid has gone wicketless in the two matches he has played.
