Pakistan batting coach Adam Hollioake admitted he is interested to see how opening batsman Saim Ayub will bounce back from the failures he has had in international cricket so far.
Ayub has represented Pakistan in 12 T20Is and amassed 162 runs at an average of 14.72 and a strike-rate of 124.61.
He also made his Test debut in the recent three-match series against Australia and scored 0 and 33 in the third Test in Sydney.
Having fallen short of expectations thus far, Hollioake wants to see what the 21-year-old does to turn his fortunes around.
“Mentally, how he stands up to the grinds of international cricket and bounces back from failure [is something we’ll see]. Everything else, he ticks all the boxes,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Ayub is currently playing for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has accumulated 175 runs in five matches, which includes a top score of 88, at an average of 35 and a strike-rate of 153.50.
