Pakistan left-arm speedster Mir Hamza said he doesn’t want to be seen as a Test bowler and believes he is ready to represent his country in ODIs and T20Is.

Hamza has started to be used more in the longest format, but has yet to make his debut in the 50 and 20-over formats.

With the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) currently underway, the 31-year-old knows this is his chance to shine with the Karachi Kings and potentially break into the limited overs scene for Pakistan.

“As far as white-ball cricket is concerned, I am ready for both white-ball formats and actively strive to prepare for them. I accept every challenge, and if I am given a responsibility in red-ball cricket by the Pakistan team, my endeavour is to perform well. Regarding white-ball cricket, I am also playing domestically and participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where I have performed well. My aim is to excel in both red-ball and white-ball cricket and secure a place in the Pakistan team,” he told Cricket Pakistan.

“I wanted to show that I’m not just a Test match bowler or limited to white-ball cricket in the PSL. Despite a lacklustre performance in the PSL during that period, my cricket journey has restarted in the last couple of years, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.”

Recently, Hamza featured in Pakistan’s three-Test series against Australia and claimed seven wickets in two games at an average of 20.71.

In PSL 9, he has picked up six wickets in his first three matches at an average of 14.83 and an economy rate of 7.41.
