Pakistan middle order batsman Saud Shakeel has confirmed that he has one main career goal, which is to lead his country to as many wins as possible.
Shakeel has enjoyed a strong start to his international career and has become a regular face in the Test and ODI squads.
He conceded that his batting position will play an “important” role in aiding his objective of winning matches for Pakistan. Still, he noted that whatever happens, he will find a way to accomplish it.
“I don’t aim to beat my own records. My main goal is to help Pakistan win matches no matter what. The position in the batting order where I play is important for achieving this. I keep my preparation and plans simple. My main focus is always on winning matches for Pakistan in any possible way,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Shakeel recently featured in Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia and amassed 92 runs at an average of 15.33.
He didn’t play in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which the men in green lost 4-1.
Currently, the 28-year-old is representing the Quetta Gladiators in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has made scores of 74, 40 and 2.
