Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan admitted that he is among those waiting to see a “big knock” from opener Saim Ayub.
Ayub is seen as a big-hitting batting sensation and has been a dominant force at the domestic level.
However, he has been unable to replicate that success in international cricket as he has scored 162 runs in 12 T20Is at an average of 14.72 and a strike-rate of 124.61.
Recently, Ayub opened the batting with Rizwan in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, replacing Babar Azam, who was moved down to number three.
However, the 21-year-old was unable to have an impact as he was limited to 39 runs in four games at an average of 9.75 and a strike-rate of 130.
Despite not being able to score big runs against the Black Caps, Rizwan is confident that Ayub will dazzle in the near future.
“We all are waiting for one big knock,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Ayub is now playing for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), while Rizwan is captaining the Multan Sultans.
