Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja said the power-hitting duo of Saim Ayub and Azam Khan are “wasting their potential.”
He had previously pointed out that Ayub needs to have more confidence when he plays as he is one of the biggest prospects in the country.
As for Azam, Ramiz wants the 25-year-old to be given a clear role in the T20I team as it remains unclear that his job is when batting in the middle order.
Both Ayub and Azam recently featured in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, with the former amassing 39 runs in four games at an average of 9.75 and a strike-rate of 130.
As for Azam, he finished with 22 runs in three matches at an average of 7.33 and a strike-rate of 115.78.
“These players are wasting their potential,” Ramiz said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Ayub is now playing for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and scored 42 and 0 in his first two matches against the Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings respectively.
As for Azam, he is representing Islamabad United and made 13 in the team’s most recent game against the Multan Sultans.
