Well-known cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle recalled how legendary Pakistan opening batsman Saeed Anwar used to “score a lot of runs against India.”

Bhogle remembered thinking that Anwar needed to spare India for one match as he was unrelenting in his hunger for runs.

Anwar, who is arguably the greatest opener Pakistan ever produced, played 55 Tests and made 4,052 runs, which included 11 hundreds and 25 fifties, at an average of 45.52.

He also amassed 8,824 runs in 247 ODIs, which included 20 centuries and 43 half-centuries, at an average of 39.21.

“There was a time when Saeed Anwar used to score a lot of runs against India, we were like spare us for one match,” Bhogle told Cricwick.

The Pakistan team were recently beaten 3-0 in their Test series against Australia and 4-1 in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

Many of the national players will now be involved in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will take place from February 17 to March 18 in four cities – Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
