Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has hailed batsman Babar Azam’s exceptional fitness levels as he practices in the nets for hours.
Azam is trying to get back into form after experiencing a dip for the past couple of months, where he has failed to score runs consistently.
Additionally, when he does make encouraging starts, he has failed to convert them into big scores.
Despite this, Masood is confident the 29-year-old’s hard work will pay off down the line.
“He is practicing for hours in the nets and has great fitness,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently scored 126 runs in Pakistan’s three-match Test series at an average of 21.
He then proceeded to make 213 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 42.60 and a strike-rate of 142 in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
Azam will now captain the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), while Masood will lead the Karachi Kings.
PSL 9 will be played from February 17 to March 18 in four cities – Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
