Shubman Gill, the in-form India opener, has heaped praise on Pakistan captain Babar Azam, calling him a “world-class player.”
Azam is slowly starting to regain some form after going through a slight rough patch over the past couple of months.
In the ongoing 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, the 29-year-old has amassed 157 runs in five matches, which includes two fifties, at an average of 31.40.
With India having recently played Pakistan in the tournament, where Azam made 50 runs, Gill admitted that the Lahore-born batsman is on another level.
“Babar Azam is a world-class player,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan started their World Cup campaign with victories over the Netherlands and Sri Lanka before losing their next three games against India, Australia and Afghanistan.
Their next match will be against South Africa on October 27 in Chennai.
